An advanced low power semi-conductor gas sensor
The mydome Shield gas detector has been designed to accurately measure gas in your home before explosive levels are reached
An updated model
It continuously monitors indoor gas levels and detects a gas leak when concentration levels increase. When the concentration exceeds a pre-determined safety value, the alarm will immediately sound an alarm along with a light notification
Key Features
- Alarm sound volume: ≥85dB
- Material: flame retardant plastic ABS
- Alarm concentration: 3%LEL~20%LEL (LEL – lower explosive limit)
- Preheat time: 3 minutes
British standard specification with CE / RoHS certification
The use of updated, dedicated sensors for every gas ensures effective, fast and reliable detection
Visual and Audible notification
When the gas leak concentration reaches pre-determined safety levels the alarms 85dB speaker activates a slow, accelerated or fast, continuous alarm that reflects the gas concentration level. The gas detector is programmed to give a voice notification and a digital readout of the gas concentration level
Positive safety indicator
A simple ‘traffic light’ status indicator which, at a glance, provides visual peace of mind of the Shield gas detectors operational status to users
The lowest concentration point at which the combustible gas may become explosive is called the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) Shown on the screen
1-2%LEL
Green “POWER” indicator will be visibly lit. The detector will not sound an alarm
3-5%LEL
LEL percentage will increase as gas concentration rises.
Gas detector will not sound an alarm
6-9%LEL
Gas concentration level reached predetermined safety level. “RED ALARM” indicators will flash and voice warning will play followed by an alarm sound
> 9%LEL
“RED ALARM” indicators will flash and a voice warning will play followed by the sound of an alarm
Silence Button
Pressing the silence button will stop the alarm sound and will keep the unit silenced for 10 minutes. The alarm will still display gas level.
The alarm should be installed in a room where a gas leak is most likely to occur, this will generally be the kitchen where gas appliances such as gas cookers, ovens or boilers are installed.

My elderly mother has been recently leaving the cooker on. I came across this gas detector and decided to give it a go.
I was shocked how quickly it would come in to use. 2 days into having it the alarm started ringing. It didn’t take long to locate the source of the problem given recent history. We found the gas on the cooker was still on. Fantastic.
Turned off the gas and watched the numbers on the screen decrease slowly.
This will deffinatly be a life saver. Great product. Would deffinatly reccomend

In the past I though that I could smell gas and called out the gas board only to find that what I could smell was actually a newly fitted carpet that was a little damp, lol. I didn’t realise that this type of device was available so when I saw this I ordered it, to save me worrying about false alarms more than anything, lol.
On opening, this looks well made and is moulded from a strong white plastic, the finish is clean and without burrs and remnants of the moulding process.
To install this device, it simply requires plugging into a spare plug socket. The only problem might be that if you want it to detect natural gas then it needs to be high up on a wall and not many homes will have a socket up high. For LPG this won’t be a problem as it just plugs into a normal low fitting socket for that.
Luckily I do have a high socket that I had previously installed for a TV that we had in our dining room, as I removed the TV some time ago the socket was not really doing anything so this device could plug straight into that.
Once this has been plugged in, it goes through a start up process which takes a few minutes and then following a beep the LEDs come on and the display shows a 0. Should it detect gas it will give out a loud beeping and the display will show the amount of gas in the air so that you can take the required action. As I didn’t want to release any flammable gas into my home I haven’t tested that but I’m sure that it will work.
The one thing that I’m not very keen on is the bright red of the display, this would have been much nicer in blue but then this is for safety and not really to look at, lol.
This completes the require detectors for a safe home, along with a smoke alarm or two and a carbon monoxide alarm.
Easy to use device that could save lives.
Recommended.
